Friendship is a priceless gift

that can’t be bought or sold,

And to have an understanding friend

is worth far more than gold…

And the golden chain of friendship

is a strong and blessed tie

Binding kindred hearts together

As the years go passing by.

Message

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,

The majesty of a tree,

The warmth of a summer sun,

The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,

The comforting arm of night, The wisdom of the ages,

The power of the eagle's flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,

The faith of a mustard seed,

The patience of eternity,

The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,

When there was nothing more to add,

He knew His masterpiece was complete,

And so, He called it ... Dad

May Message

Warm weather is upon us again.  It's time for spring yard work and planting seeds for vegetables and flowers.  Many in our neighborhood have flowers that we are enjoying right now.  We look forward to the new ones that will be blooming throughout the spring and summer.

May is the month that we honor mothers.  Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers.

We have our regular meeting on May 10th at 7:30 PM.  I hope to see all the members that can come out.

The Burrito Dinner is happening on May 14th from 11 AM to 6 PM.  Please come out to the St. Charles Masonic Lodge and enjoy a burrito and a piece of cake.  This is the SECOND TO LAST dinner.  Ever.  Cost is $7.  We have raised lots of money for Bernice McSweyn for her year as Worthy Grand Matron and we hope to see you come out and get some delicious food and support Bernie in her endeavor.

There is also an Officers Rehearsal on May 24th.

Illness:

Helen Robinson is doing much better!  She would appreciate cards; please send them to her house.

January Message

Happy New Year to one and all!  We can hope and pray for many things to happen and problems to be solved.  We all know only about 1% will be resolved but we should be thankful for any small amount.

We look to the future.  It is cold; the driving is bad; it snows a lot; it is windy and you might catch a cold or the flu.  Take care.  Good luck to the Shrine Circus.  Many of our good workers are helping the Nile prepare and serve food for the Shriners who work the circus.  They work for a good cause too.

We have lost two members: Helen Bledsdoe, who was soloist for Martha for many years; and Shirley Rigg, a 64-year member.  A memorial service was held for sister Shirley just before the funeral service.  Our sympathy goes out to the families.

Best Wishes for the New Year!

December Message

Our School of Instruction went well under the leadership of the Grand Conductress Nancy A. Martin. My officers did the excellent work. A BIG thank you to all who attended.

December is a joyful and busy month. To start, we will be doing the installation dinner for Saginaw Lodge #77 on December 8th. Our congratulations to Brother John Carstensen as he assumes the leadership of the Lodge.

Our trip to the Masonic Pathway is planned for December 16th. We will car pool this trip, leaving the Saginaw Masonic Center at 1:30. We will visit our five members and two adopted freinds who reside at the home and any others we may know. If any blue Lodge brothers wish to join us as there are a few you may like to visit. So just join us on this trip to see those unable to make our meetings.

Yes it is December, this is the BIG SHOPPING month. As you run around from store to store remember the Red Kettles, Toys for Tots and others who need help to see that the needy also have a good Christmas. Yes, I shop because my head tells me that is what I am supposed to do this time of year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

As the adage goes, "many hands make light work". That is right! We need salesperson, help in the kitchen and clean up help.

Our School of Instruction is early this year. The officers are working hard too, with their part. Remember the School is for everyone; come and support your Chapter officers.

Sisters and Brothers, if you know of anyone who needs a card to cheer them, let Charlotte Campbell know. She can only do her job if she has been made aware of the need. If you can't get a hold of her, call the Worthy Matron.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving

October Message

Our June meeting went very well. All the ladies had fun bidding for the pleasure of serving our brothers their lunch and coffee after the meeting. We were honored by a visit of the Grand Associate Matron and her husband Bob. We were also honored with a visit from the officers and members of the Heart o the Mitten Association. President Hazel Chapman had a very nice message for us. It was nice to see so many on the sidelines. We also enjoyed music sung by Joyce Mixer with Jean Thompson on the organ.

The pot-luck picnic at Ellen and Steve Fisher's home had a wonderful turnout. Several younger members went for a swim. It was a shame that the rain ended it so soon. We thank Steve and Ellen for turning their house over to us. They were very gracious to us.

A special thank-you goes out to those who worked so hard on our luncheons and card parties. It was great to see several Life Members who haven't been to Chapter for several years attend the luncheon in their honor. It would have been super to have had more people come ad visit with use, but summer is a busy time for everyone.

The Past Matrons' and Past Patrons' club met at the Texan on July 27th for a short meeting and election of officers. We had a very social evening. August 30th saw a pot luck picnic at our Temple for the Heart of the Mitten Association. We thank President Hazel Chapman for asking us to do this for her.

We were sorry to hear sister Betty Iles is now in a nursing home on Bay road. Please keep her on your list with all the other members who may need a prayer or a visit.

Our condolences go to the families of Ailene Husen and Ruth Boguette who were both life members of our chapter as well as to Sister Carolyn Burgess on the loss of her beloved husband Jerry.

September 14th is our next meeting and our annual memorial during the good of the order. We will also be honoring sister Carolyn Everett PGM, by presenting her with a 50-year pin. Please come and share this evening with her. She is a very special lady and we don't see her as often as we'd like. I also have a surprise fun time planned, but you will have to come to find out what it is. :-)

September 28th is our Harvest Dinner. It will start at 4:00 pm. Helen McGlone is in charge of this important event. I'm sure sh can use all the help and donations you can give. Please come and bring a friend.

Our annual meeting will be October 5th due to Grand Chapter being the following week. Be sure to have all reports ready to be read and filed. All raffle tickets and money must be turned in to Bobbi so she can have her report ready. the money must be in before the 30th of September as that is when the books are closed for the final audit for this year. No tickets will be sold in October ad the drawing will be held on October 5th at 8:30 pm. I thank everyone who helped sell the tickets and also to those who purchased them.

June Message

This is late, but this is the type of information that will be put into this blog.

Well, it has finally happened; the flowers are out and our snowbirds are back. Looks like warm weather is here to stay at last. Time to get out and have soe fun and what better way than to meet with our friends, playcards or just talk abou what has been happening in your life? As you can see, we hav esome dates planned to do just that. We will be talking more on these plans at our June meeting. We will also be showing our brothers how much we appreciate them with a special fun activity planned just fot tme after we close our Bible. Please come and help with any sugestions or ideas you may have to the enjoyment of these events, I know summer is a busy time for everyone, but it is nice to keep in touch with if only once a month with our sisters and brothers of Eastern Stars.

At our May meeting, we honored all the ladies with a bundle of joy. Some ot more thn expected. Officers honored were Amy Hussey. Life membership was presented to Sonja Gross by Bobbi Kapusto. I wish to say thank you to all the officers who did such a beautiful job at our initation. It would have been nice to have had real candidates, but everyone went that extra mile and did their best for our pro-tems.

At the Heart of the Mitten Association meeting in HArrison on May 5th, the annual report of what the Chapter has been doing was read. The Wothy Grand Matron and the Associate Grand Maton came up to me later and said how pleased they were to hear what a beautiul job our chapter has been doing. The said I was to congradulate all our members for their hard work and didication to the order. We can be prowud of our Chapter and the members who come and sit on the sidelines to give their support. Everyone is neede to make a successful chapter.

Our sunshine lady is doing a great job, ut she can only do so if she knows about an illness you or someone you know may have. Be sure to make her aware of this person. Now that the weather is nice, maybe you could visit a shut-in. Remember to keep them in your prayers.

We were glad to see Dorothy Nevelle and Nancy Royal at our meeting. It has been a while since we were able to visit with them. Maybe now that it's nicer more members will come. It's always nice to see new faces.

We hope to see you at one or all of our card parties. If not, have a very save summer and may God watch over you!

Star Love,

Marge Lindszuhn, WM and Bill Kehrer, WP
